Default Tour Pack? We don't need no stinking tour pacK!

Found this waterproof IEA bag new for $40 on the net. It was holding 1 extra long and wide sleeping bag, 2 self-inflating sleep rolls, 2 towels, 1 blanket, and a helmet bag with my extra t-shirts, socks, underwear and a sweatshirt. Longer than my air force duffel bag but not quite as wide and not heavy with what was in it. GF had 1 saddlebag for her clothes, in the other had a tool bag, small HD air compressor, tire plug kit, rain pants, a couple hats and a pair of jeans, tent on top of bag. Left Tues morning from the bottom of Ga and traveled through North Ga and NC. Got to ride a little bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway (beautiful) and stayed 1 night at the Motorcycle only campground on Hwy 276 South of Waynesville, NC (great place). Got home this afternoon 1,000 mile more on the OD (6,500 trouble free and happy so far). No record setting! but that wasn't the point and the weather costs us probably another 150 miles steering clear of longer, but rainy routes. My first ride on a Dyna through the mountain twisties, easy and enjoyable. Last 2 hr stretch on superslab, 80mph smooth.

Stephen good looking bag. First time I was on the parkway there was a rider that got to looking at the great scenery and not the road and took his RK thru the parking area and right over the side of the mountain. He was a little bruised up but the bike was busted up

Nice thing about a tour pack is you can lock it and rain will never get through it, that is where I keep my camera and full face just in case of rain for road trips.

Very nice!! We're doing something similar but our bag is not quite that big and I wouldn't be able to talk my wife into a sleeping bag anyway. We'll pack our stuff into the saddle bags and the T-bag and just stay in motels. That should be more than enough for long weekends we have planned this year.
Glad you enjoyed your trip though. Got pics?
I would love to go down to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway some day. We have some friends that are moving to eastern Tennessee so their place could be our staging area.

CeCharles, I put 4 pics in an album under my profile, I assumed people could view them somehow, I'm not a pro on this forum ins and outs.

I got to the point where you said "GF had 1 saddlebag for her clothes" and I thought "You lucky bastard. My wife needs more space than that just for a day trip!"
Sounds like you had a ball!

Yeah, she took 1 extra pair of jeans like me and a few t-shirts, socks, undies, braids her long hair and took a couple caps. If you like riding, it sure is nice to have a low maintenance gal who likes to ride.

Looks like a nice bag and it sounds like it worked well for your trip...That being said, that bag is way too wide for my tastes. Hell, I wouldn't be able to do any lane splitting as I'd be hitting car mirrors.

Yeah its wide! lol, but round here (rural GA) I don't have to do much lane splitting, very few traffic jams to worry about.
