Default Help - what is the black star shape dial under throttle on FLD?

The Owners manual doesn't have a lot of usefull information - what is this dial for and should I be messing with it?

I noticed that while on highway my throttle seems to "slip" and I have to keep adjusting my hand position up - thought this might tighten it a bit. But don't like messing with things I know nothing about......my old Yamaha didn't have this.

Advice??

That would be your throttle lock.

Screw it up and it'll hold your throttle in position, kinda like a poor mans cruise control.

take care with it though, It is NOT a throttle tension adjuster!! When your not using it make sure it is plenty unscrewed!

Default Throttle Lock Screw

Turn it clockwise and it will act as a throttle lock but be careful having it on also makes the throttle harder to turn. I wouldn't recommend riding with it on but rather keep it right at the friction point.

Ride Safe,
P

I use it on longer trips to lessen the tension on my wrist. Tighten it just enough that it's not locked, with almost no tension on the return spring.
On long straight hiway sections, I've locked it down for a few seconds to give me a chance to move my right arm/wrist around a bit.

Like everyone else has said, it is NOT a cruise CONTROL. It's a throttle LOCK. You will slow down on hills, and speed up on down grades.
