Will my forkin plan work?

I have a 2010 FXDWG which I love but I've never been able to leave it alone. The next thing going on it is an American Suspension Black Dragon Springer front end http://www.americansuspension.com/fo...lackmamba.html
It's alrady arrived so it has to go on. BUT

I've been unfaithful of late and fallen in love with the Fatbob and am going back to the US in late June to ride around and end up at Sturgis. My plan is to buy a FatBob on the East Coast for that purpose and bring it back to OZ to keep it as my other ride after Sturgis. What Í'm fantasising about is powdercoating the lower forks of the wide glide front end and then putting that on the Fatbob but retaining the Fatty's 130 front wheel. Is that pretty simple or am I going to run into problems? What do I need to do to make it fit OK.?

Fat Bob sliders and Wide Glide sliders are not the same. Fat Bob has a brake caliper on each side and the fender holes are a different distance apart.

One think you may have to check is the fatbob wheel mayl not fit into the wide glide forks.

Post some pic's when your wide glide is done.

I think it will work as long as you change the entire frontend... You should gain some rake from the WG trees. .. One thing that comes to mind is be careful of the trail. It should be fine but plug the numbers into a trail calc and see what ya get.

Not sure why you would put WG sliders on a FatBob, only difference is losing the dual discs up front, is that your goal?

Please post pics when you get that springer front end put on!!

Thanks guys. I certainly will post pics when the wide glide is done. My plan was to keep the dual front discs when the wide glide front end goes on the Fatbob. You think that can be done? I would have thought the Wide Glide front end would be wider between the forks than the Fatbob so would accommodate the 130 wheel and the twin discs.

I think your solution is to (1) replace the Fat Bob triple trees with the ones from the Wide Glide, (2) dismantle the forks and use the Wide Glide fork tubes with the Fat Bob lower sliders ...

The front ends are the same width ... as I understand, the Wide Glide has a degree or two of rake that the Fat Bob doesn't have ... also, I was lead to believe that the Wide Glide fork tubes are 2" longer than the rest of the Dyna lineup ...

This arrangement would allow you to retain the dual front disc brakes and the stock Fat Bob fender ...

Thanks Chop. I love this site.

Chop is correct, width is the same, the WG trees have 2 degrees of rake where the FB trees have 0, and the WG tubes are 2" longer due to the rake, was that why you wanted to swap, to rake the front end?
