2012 Wide Glide shocks ?
New FXDWG.
Seems with both the wife and I on the bike it wants to bottom out, especially around corners, slowing down a bit has helped but I'd like to increase the spring rate a little bit and get the bike back up a bit when we both ride. Any suggestions on if and how much I can add? Who/what kind to buy from also? We're about a 100#'s over max rated...maybe a few more.. :) tia Al |
if your running 100#'s over max you would be a good candidate for Progressive's heavy duty shocks. increasing the spring rate with some longer shocks will improve the ride

Thanks, I'll look into them.
We were supposed to each have our own bike, but with less than 50 miles on hers, she panicked and run into a parked car...that ended that for now. Al |
Progressive 430's, which is what I have had on order since January, are not available yet. Progressive has no idea when they will have them available either. That is the shock I choose for my '03 WG after some serious evaluation. 440's were too much and 418's were not enough.

Just got off the phone with the guy from Progressive, he was very helpful and after I told him my story he suggested the 440-4051C HD shocks, which were a inch longer than stock and then suggested I replace the front springs with 11-1525.
Thanks much. Al |
Ok, a service manual is high on my priorities, but it won't happen till after I get the shocks installed, so is there anything I should be aware of changing the rear shocks and front springs???
Support the bike for the rears and they should be just a bolt on, maybe a little blue locktite on the threads ??? Front should just be remove top bolt on tubes and slide springs out? tia Al |
I put progressive 440's on my Street Bob, works fantastic...also did Works kit in the forks. A world of difference along with the True Track. 3 best things I did to it yet. Suggestion, don't get cheap on the suspension...keeps her on two wheels.

when i had my wide glide last year i went with the late model touring air shocks off of a street glide with 10wt oil in them... made the ride perfect and totally adjustable.
