okay so i have decided im going to go with amsoil in the engine and trans and then Harley oil in the primary. Does it matter what oil filter i run with the amsoil? i have never run synthetic in anything before, and should i flush the oil out of it before i ad the amsoil or just drain and refill?

I use Mobil 1 15W-50 in the 5 quart jug from Walmart. All threee holes for under $25. I change the engine oil and primary several times a year so I like the price. I have to service two bikes, so it adds up quick.
I seem to remember that Mobil 1 does not recommend their gear oil in Harley transmissions. This was a couple of years ago so maybe something changed. Something about problems with "yellow metals".

Everybody should use what fits their situation. I just don't want to spend $600 a year on oil changes. Mobil 1 15W-50 is a good oil, is there better? Of course, there is always something better. I am just happy with my compromise.
