Since I am not afraid to embarrass myself in public, why should the internet be any different? I need to adjust the shocks on the rear of my FatBob. What tool do I need and how is it done. Believe it or not, there is nothing on YouTube that I could find. Thought I would ask here though. This has been a great site, and a big part of the reason I find myself on a Harley today. I joined before I got the bike looking for advice. Oh yeah, the ride is too stiff right now. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Also, is there another area of this site that will have the answers I am looking for? I checked the area for suspension questions, but there is nothing there Thanks.

Spanner Wrench. You'll know you're on the softest setting when it goes "Boing!!"

My shock doesn't have the #'s.

I just twist the adjustment collar by hand.

 

You can watch the shock compress (or decompress). I change mine a good bit and end up just taking them all the way in one direction and then use that as a starting point to put them where I want them.

They work perfect and don't have to worry about scratching the chrome. Useful for other things too (steering head nut cap for example)

 

Use a spanner wrench and turn the shock counter clockwise until it stops. In that position will be at the softest setting. If you turn it clockwise from that position it will go 5 clicks (5th being the firmest ride) and then go boing. when you hear it go "boing" it will be at the softest setting again. it will only turn continuously in one direction.

When you turn it CCW count the clicks so you know where it was at when you started

 

That's what I did was able to get to the third click drank a few beers and tried again got the forth click and was happy.
