Don't want those caps to dry out?... It's mild enough here for the angel's trumpets to be able to be grown in the yard. Has became very popular. Think it's the same variation. However here, it hardens off to almost look like a typical tree bark.

They do indeed. No more worries on the chain tensioners.

My '14 Street Bob has 57k miles. All it's had is oil, tires, one set of brake pads (EBC HH), and a battery. I did open up the cam chest at 50k to look at the tensioner shoes, and they were showing virtually no wear at all.

Rene, my 2010 FXDC Odo was at 89K when I blew apart my cam chest, broken chains, shredded tensioners, Oil pump trashed, cam plate full of debris . Required a total motor rebuild. Thread is here if interested. I went way beyond rebuilding the cam chest.

Other stuff Ive had to do recently (in the last 6 - 12 months):

Front wheel bearings.
New belt, and pulleys
Inner primary bearing
Compensator sprocket

Interesting write-up you have over there, Karl.
How's the bike running nowadays?

I am nearing 77k miles on my superglide. Been through a couple sets of cam chain tensioners so far. Fuel gauge doesn't work below 3/4 full. Developed a small primary leak over the past 5k or so that will be addressed this winter. Rear shocks are completely toast, also a winter upgrade plan.

Overall I love the bike. If it wasn't for the chain tensioner issue I am paranoid about, I would consider the bike pretty much trouble free. It needs more luggage capacity and my passenger has minor comfort complaints, but just can't bring myself to switch to a tourer. I have no complaints about stock engine power, even 2up with luggage.
