Default Updated: What to expect after 153.248 km (95.223 mls)

A few weeks ago I managed the FXD 2003 odometer to pass 80,000 km...

Service costs up till now:
  • regular service intervals like oil changes, spark plugs, brake pads and tyres
  • leaking fuel valve replaced at 35,300 km (= 22,000 miles)
  • pinched belt replacement at 44.000 km (=27,340 miles)cam chain tensioners + bearings replaced at 58,000 km (=36,000 miles)
Just wondering what additional service issues will appear next?

Default 90,000 ~ 56,000 miles

90,000 km ~ 56,000 miles odometer reading last week....

I installed a new front motor mount, (gel)battery and front brake disk this year (2013).

Belt & sprockets still in great shape.

Anyone in here who has 56,000 miles + and willing to share some info about what additional service issues will appear next?

More tires and oil changes for sure, just kidding, at some point you will need to replace the primary chain tensioner block, and cam chain tensioners again around 120 to 150k, but check them every 30,000 km to b safe, at around 180,000km freshen up the top end

Not a Dyna, but you are just broke in good, not much more to worry about except normal maintenance.
Around 100,000 miles -120,000 you can expect a new top end, 150-200 a bottom end rebuild.
Just ride it worry about wearing it out, when it happens.
Its never as bad as we dream in our minds.

No problem, the biggest thing to remember is these bikes are not race bikes. They are not designed for hole shots, or land speed records.
They can be set up for that but That is a different thread.
Treat them like a pretty woman, give them respect and they will never embarrass you.

Hi,

I have 25000kms on mine and I do all servicing so far

Just out of curiosity are you just following the service intervals in the manual, anything special, obviously the oil is a can of worms, but more of the other items like connections, dash, gauge etc

Thanks
Mirrmu
