Need Some Advise
true ... mechanical things will allways have "problems" . I work for toyota in the engine plant in huntsville alabama , if we had a problem like I had with my dyna with less than 1000 miles and like what he is having then the whole line would be shut down . The problem would be fixed , every engine that could possibly have a problem would be held up examined and most likely scrapped . We would then be working 7 days a week to make up for the scrap .
Now then Harley has had a problem with the inner primary bearing , axles and tranny just to name a few . Imagine for one second that a metric bike had the same problems mentioned above ... most HD riders would be calling the bike a pos . But just b/c its a "HD" its ok .
I come from metric bikes ... I wanted a harley as long as I can remeber . I love my harley davidson and if God is willing I will allways own at least one . But come on the moco is dropping the ball if they have this many problems and are not trying to fix it .

The whole point of my post was in response to your claim that you're "hearing so many bad things about new HDs" ....and all I was saying is that you can't really guage overall ownership satisfaction based solely on a message board. That's all. And while I agree with you on some of your points in your latest post, and I disagree on a few others, I don't really feel it necessary to get into here (unless you request otherwise
)All I ask is that if you're hearing all these bad things, you provide something to back that up...where are you hearing this from? Do you personally know a lot of late model owners who have been experiencing many problems? If it's from other sources besides online message boards, then I ask you to please provide us with this info as well. I, for one, would certainly be interested to hear what overall customer satisfaction is on all late model harleys.
That said, if this claim of new HDs having so many problems is based solely on what you read here or on any other message board, then I stand by my original post. And that, simply, was to say that message board members comprise of a very small minority of overall ownership...and that doesn't make for a very accurate guage regarding overall satisfaction and reliability.
Hope this clears up what I was originally saying.
Thanks.
Todd
btw....I'd rather push my harley than ever get on another yamaha

take it back ... wow Im hearing so many bad things about new HD's. I waited a long time to own one
I have an 07 luv it, runs great, have had no problems, have put a little over 2000 miles on it since Nov.28.

If going by internet information or "what I've heard", the Goldwing is the worst bike ever to be built. All kinds of problems reported...overheating, frames cracking, front end wobbles, eats tires, cruise doesn't set right, whiny alternator, CB's don't have any range, saddlebag ajar light stays on, saddlebag release gets stuck, and so on and so on. Problems are always going to be shouted louder than when things work well.
You have to put these things in perspective. People don't come on the board every day and say "My bike started up perfectly again this morning." There's no context here. You're going to hear a lot more negative and a lot less positive. What about the hundreds of thousands of people who aren't on internet boards?
I really wish some would dial down the hype here.
I had my inner primary bearing replaced on my Dyna. I also have 18,000 miles on my bike. It's been great. So I took it back and had the bearing replaced.
There's recalls and problems on every car. GM, Toyota, Honda just had a recent recall. They all have issues. No perfect bike, no perfect car.

Cars, boats, motorcycles . . . more electrical problems are probably from bad grounds thanany other single cause. I'm sure they'll findthe problemand fix it quickly, but that one post just sounded dead-on like your problem. Keep us posted and good luck.

now if it is a dome light that keeps burning out or maybea broken ashtray door , Im sure that they wont .
if its an engine that wont half run , a tranny that has serious problems or any type of serious failure Im sure they would have taken appropriate actions .
Guys , please dont take what I said wrong ... "If" there is a reoccuring problem and HD doesnt try to fix it then they have dropped the ball . No doubt that HD has produced some very well made bikes , I just hope they continue to be the same quality we expect.
