Scorchers

just had my 5k service done and my front tire is at 3/32". Rear still looks new. I have never had a front tire wear out before the rear. Anyone have this happen with the stock Michelin Scorchers? Stealer said it is just a soft compound tire, so it is normal......wouldn't that mean the rear should also be worn?? Certainly assumed I would get more than 5k out of my front!

Yeah it would seem to me the back would wear at the same rate as the front. Personally I never liked the Scorcher because of the bar and shield logo on the sidewall that would vibrate when you lean it over around a corner. I went with the new Michilin Commander II's and have nearly five thousand miles on them and they still look like new. They are supposed to last 25 thousand miles so will have to see about that. So far though I'm pleased with them.

ive got 8200 miles on mine with minimal signs of wear. my rear still has at least 1500 miles left on it. maybe you just got a bad tire.

I've since replaced my front and rear with different tires simply for a look, but my front was a stock scorcher with 6k on it and it still has a pretty good amount of tread. The rear was replaced at this mileage. Definitely a questionable issue with the quality of your tire.

I have 11k miles on my original Scorcher tires, still barely legal, will have to replace quite soon.
Didn't ride aggressively, no burnouts or last second hard breakings. I treat it with respect so my tires last a bit longer.
I'd expect you had a bad tire. I'd assume, under normal average use, the same wear on front and back, the front beeing predominantly used for breaking and turning, the rear for the traction of moving these 700lbs machines...

I have the Scorchers on my '12 FXDC & I've put about 4,000 miles on my bike this summer & they look brand new. I don't notice any signs of wear front or back. I'm hoping to get at least 10,000 out of both. When I have my 5,000 mile service done next month I'll find out with a gauge how they are wearing for sure, but so far I'm happy with them. Much better riding & handling tire than the 2 sets of Dunlops I had on my Sporty.
