Yeah, the 2nd one is pretty bad ***, but I agree, the front end look like an older Jap bike. I had a 83" Kawasaki KZ550 once, and it had the same look to it. I haven't seen the bike in person, but it would def be my "bad-***" bike. As in power and handling. I have a 72 FX for the chill ride with a beautiful shovel (gutless though), and the Sporty for quick town rips. I think I might go for the 2nd one.... Maybe buy longer fork tubes down the road to bring the front end up a bit more.

JCleary Where do you live? Is that the little bar down the Avenue of the Giants everyone stops at at the Redwood Run?

Thanks gents

Second one if done right is a contender. Lots of salvage FXR Parts around these days. Put an Inverted Fork front end on and you have something. EBay can be your friend for NOS parts, but watch as some places try and gouge you on rarity of FXR stuff. Guess what you don't like on Bike # 2 you can always restore to original, or simply make it yours. Good Luck, and Nice to see a few folks give the FXRs the recognition they deserve within the HD lineage.

For me, no question #2...I wanted to "start" with an FXR years ago, but was convinced by my HD mechanic friends to go with a twin-cam platform...111hp/117ftlbs out of an EVO wouldn't be as reliable as mine's been and 100ft lbs at 2200rpm is street usable...there's a lot of latitude in performance between a barge and a sport bike...why do so many say "crotch rocket" just 'cause you want to improve the braking, handling and power of a stock HD? Some serious braking power on #2 as well; that's not a bad thing in my books.

Only problem with number 2 is that I need to save up a few more grand.. haha I can buy that #1 FXR right now, but don't want to get it and then regret not waiting less than a month to get #2.

Id go for second one hands down, honestly I consider the extra miles irrelevant if the owner takes care of it, which he prob did better than first bike. just my .02
