Engine displacement question

Dont really know how to word it but I'll give it a try.

I have a 96 Wide Glide and the original owner had the SE 1550 Conversion kit & the SE 1550 HC Forged Pistons installed. Does that mean instead of it being the standard 1340cc, it's now a 1550cc?

yes thats correct he took it from a 88" to a 95"

80 was the starting point....

Evo Or TC

1550 cubic centimeters is 95 cu in...How do you know what internals are in the bike ?

Hold on now. There is no such thing as a SE 1550 kit for and 80 inch Evo. Some information you have about the bike is incorrect.

I have the invoices & receipts with part numbers. (I didnt say anything about an 80 inch Evo .. but was that the standard engine for the 96 FXDWG?)
I'm at work, but when I get up, I'll double check & post it.

Also, I'm the 3rd owner, 2nd owner was my father-in-law, & 1st owner was his cousin ... so the bike has become a family heirloom, I guess. lol

Any help I can get is much appreciated.

Yes, a 1996 would have had the 80ci Evolution motor.

There are several ways to make an 80" / 1340 cc motor bigger. Both Stroker Kits and Big Bore. None of them from Harley as I recall.

So you may have a hot rod, but the name S/E 1550 isn't correct. That's what I've got, and it's a Twin Cam (99 and up,), not an Evo ( 84 to 99.)

As mentioned, yes. A 1996 would have an 80 inch Evo Motor. If in fact the bike is a 1996 Wide Glide thats an 80 inch, rubber mounted, 5-Speed configuration motorcycle. Harley never made Screaming Eagle (SE) kit for the Evolution. You simply CAN NOT punch a stock Evo out that large. That being said there are a TON of aftermarket cases that allow an Evo configuration engines to grow to well over 95 (1550) inches. Tons of 124 (2000cc's) Evo Configuration engines all over the place, but none are S/E. The S/E bolt on big bores are reserved to Twin Cam Engines. 88 to 95, such as my sig pic bike, 96 to 103, and so on. Theres no question you may have a much bigger than stock engine, but if its an Evo style, the Screamin' Eagle (SE) is not how it got so large.
