Im in St charles county.. I just bought the switchback on dec 27 so I am concerned with warranty issues down the road... I have checked the bike out and looked at where the pipe is secured to the bike so I am assuming I will have to make sure that I get the pipe that is made for the switchback.. I was checking out my friends wide glide and ultra and noticed all three bikes have a different way of securing the pipe to the frame of the bike. I don't want to pay a dealer a price I don't need to pay if I can just put it on myself.. keeping in mind I have a limited amount of knowledge on harleys with this being my first one and also don't want to get in over my head... The quick release sissy bar was simple. The stage 1 sounds a bit more intimidating...

throw a set of V&H H S slip-ons on it with the quiet baffles and you'll like the sound..The stock baffles that come with the HS slip-ons are too loud and the Quiet Baffles give the pipes a deeper tone too. I picked a set up used on ebay for 125.00 and the Quiet Baffles are around 35.00.. No tune,no other adjustments..put them on and run it!!

If you want to just change the sound, changing to a slip on is EASY. Remove a couple bolts and SLIP ON the new "tail pipe". No other modifications are needed. The dealer is going to charge you an easy $100 for something you can do in 30 minutes. Also, don't believe the hype. They can't void your warranty for changing out a tail pipe.

18Wheels is talking about a bike with a different exhaust than yours, but the idea is the same.

Lol.. yea Im a bass player... I definately like the lower deeper tone... I like the look of the V & H slipons that are angled and come out even with the back fender...I think i will be happy with the perfomance of the 103 so I don't need to add all the performance mods right now.. thx for the advice..

This depends on type of system you want. Samson makes a dual staggered system for the Switchback. But it's like mine...all down the right side. I know some make the so called "True Duals". Warranty issues I have had none running current slipons and V&H Straightshots I had before. And I believe the Switchback has a 2-1 system. Not sure you can get sound you want that way. Just my opinion.

A buddy of mine just bought a 2013 Switchback and put the V&H Twin Slash Slip on (one pipe). He, like you, just wanted better sound over stock. It does sound really nice and is a good look, as well. He may eventually switch it out to a full exhaust and do the AC also. But for now, he didn't want to put the $$ out until he researched it and decided which way he wants to go, or if he even wants to at all.

I upgraded my fatboy lo with vance and hines pipes, a screaming eagle heavy breather air cleaner and did the full purchase of the race tuner and dyno time for tuning. I spent around $1600. I started off like you but the more I learned, the more it costs, and I wanted to do my new bike right. Lots of opinions, but I suspect you might enjoy the look, sound, and improved performance on your new bike. Just make sure that you actually ride and don't waste you money. I see dudes all the time with a bike with 800 miles, 3K in upgrades, and a for sale sign.

You can get a full exhaust for just a little more money then slip ons. If all you care about is the noise...then stick with slip ons

No Tampa not gonna put it in the garage and admire it, riding to little sturgis then hauling up to big sturgis and I will probably put another 1500 on it up there. Always wanted to see rushmore up close. I will be riding to work also.. like riding over 100 miles for about $8.. Just want it to sound a little more like the classic harley exaust than stock.. Performance is good for me... the only other thing I have considered is maybe some 10 inch pullbacks... but Im not sure about jumping into that... looks like an expensive task!
