tappets and push rods
 

Just wondering how difficult you all think it is to replace tappets and put in the quick install push rods. Also is there a brand that I should be looking for. Its a 09 FXD. No engine mods other than high flow AC and SE slip ons. I want to change them with new to see if it helps with engine noise at start up. OEM would be fine with me unless there is a better choice. I really don't want to remove rocker covers unless absolutely necessary.

just have to pull your rockers, that is the only way to get in there unless you open them up and cut out the old ones and install adjustable... but why are you replacing the pushrods id your not doing cams?

replacing pushrods with quick installs so I can just cut the old ones out. that way i can replace tappets without removing rockers.

What's wrong with the original lifters?

I've got alot of clatter til it warms up. After reading some other posts, I am thinking it might be carbon build up on the valves. Not really wanting to pull the heads off by myself so I might just take it somewhere and see what they think it is.

that is just cause there is not alot of lube up there try adding 20oz of lucas oil treatment on your next change = gone... i do this on all my HD's works great!
