Can't believe no one makes it

I like the feel of my stock seat on my '07 FXD but would love to have a backrest. I also have a LePera King Cobra 2up seat that I'm probably going to get rid of (in perfect shape) just because I don't use it. What I can't believe is no one makes an adjustable backrest that you could add to a solo rack or make a solo rack with a backrest already attached. Someone needs to start fabbing these because there are guys like me that don't want to pay $350+ for a seat with a backrest for long trips. I use a bag right now for a backrest on the long trips but there are long day rides where I don't want to put the bag on. If there is something out there that I am missing please fill me in.

Good call.

Check out the Haulen Ass backrest. It isn't for a solo seat but something similar could be applied to a solo version. Kind of a morph between the Haulen Ass and the Motherwell rack would do exactly what you want.

Yep. Good find but boy that thing is ugly though anyway.

I've got the solo rack just like the Motherwell already but don't know if I could adapt the Haulen Ass backrest to fit, and it look right. If someone could come up with an inexpensive alternative (I know, I know...) for the exact application they could make a lot of money. I'd be better off selling both my seats and buying something with a backrest and I'd rather not have to do that. The Haulen Ass backrest is $250 bones as it is. Nice finds though.

A German company called Fehling makes what you are looking for: a backrest combined with a luggage rack.

That's a sturdy high-quality product, and easy on - easy off.

For further info check this link www.fehling.de

The actual product should be here if I got everything right:

Just my 2 euro cents.

Keep in mind that German one will scratch or otherwise dent your fender the way it's designed. .I don't care for luggage racks that use the seat screws to support their weight. If the rear mount used the strut cover bolt it'd be perfect.
