I like to ride without a front fender, but it's a complete bitch when rain comes (or when I ride on streets where sewers have overrun...which is sadly quite common in my country...I literally "eat ****" when I roll by )

So...two questions:

1. How short can the fender be before it starts throwing stuff at your face?

2. Are there any feasible alternatives to fenders (I've seen people tie rags, but they're really not that effective)

Good idea, I've wanted my front fender off for years but the sand, dirt and water thing stopped me. I'm going to see if I can make something like that. Not to good with the needle and thread thing.

 

I have seen bandanas tied to the forks to help reduce road debris from hitting the face.

Yes, there's another option. If you have engine guard bars (which it looks like you do Noob), the Desert Dawgs will block most of that stuff from your legs & feet, and keep much of the air from coming up under your chin, etc. And the best part is you don't have to sew anything yourself, ha! (The Dawgs sewers are right here in the US and no, I ain't one of 'em, I can hardly sew a button back on!)

 

i have the RSD fork brace and it blocks water and nothing ever hits my face
