Default Will this take a S&S Teardrop?

Hi, I had the air cleaner on my 06 Street Bob upgraded last year at the same time as my exhausts. I would now like to change the air cleaner cover and would like to fit a S&S Teardrop. However having removed the existing cover I cannot see how it would fit.

Can anyone tell me what sort of filter I have currently (I thinks its HD)? And what covers it would accept? Am I restricted to using a cover with a bolt in the centre e.g. Arlen Ness Slotted?

Any advice much appreciated -Richard

What you have is a Screaming Eagle Air cleaner, genuine HD.There are allot of one hole covers that will fit it, not sure about S&S teardrop style though.

Thanks for that reply. Anyone any idea about if I can fit the S&S cover, or do I have to replace the filter?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you'll have to get the matching S&S airfilter (probably back bracket too). The S&S cover had 3 holes to attach to the filter/bracket, and the SE (and Arlen Ness) have center holes for attaching, as you can tell from your pic. Look where the holes are for this S&S cover:

I was going to do the same thing but there are a few obsticles in the way. First the way it mounts, you would have to find a way to center mount the s&s, when you look at the inside of the s&s it has a long cone shape that comes from the center into the air cleaner. This would have to be cut away with a small cut off wheel. You then have to find a filter that will work with your backplate and the new cover and im not sure what is available. In my searching i found that s&s makes a complete kit for new fuel injected bikes, backplate, filter, cover, but its a bit pricey. So i am probably going to go that way. Im sure you can make the cover work, i just opted to stop and wait and go a different direction.

If you want the official S&S tear drop you have to get the S&S air cleaner. It does give you more air than a SE or Ness BS1. I think you can get some knock off Tear drop shaped covers that fit the SE.

I think there is a CVO teardrop style that may fit.
