I don't think you'd lose much if any HP. You lose TQ, not too noticeable, but when installing a set of Big City Thunder original monster baffles you will feel a difference. I know they worked really well for me and sound waaaay better than the stock V&H baffle.

Short answer is yes. For maximum performace look at 2-1 set ups. The longer versions produce higher torque #'s while the shorter ones produce higher HP #'s.
The V&H short shots sound great though.

Apparently the short answer is yes. But the correct answer is no, although that's shorter than yes too.. While they are far from the best performing, and imo one of the worst sounding, they will still make more power than the stock corks. Combined with a high flow and a good tune you'll still feel a nice gain over stock.

I just put some short shots on and have been reading two things: 1) short shots run best with no baffles (which is my current setup purely based on sound) 2) you HAVE to run baffles in short shots or you lose a lot of power. I was thinking of installing the Big Coty Monster baffles because of what I have read about their performance.

Rock103- do you know how your baffles compare to no baffles?

I am not sure the difference in performance from straight pipes. But as you can see below, the BCT baffles are somewhat of an open pipe. Providing the necessary back pressure for optimum performance. Performance you can surely feel. And I think they sound awesome. Actually the sound I was looking for. The stock V&H baffle leaves a lot to be desired, thus why I initially bought them. The performance was a pleasant by product.

You want the model# 2001. 2" inner diameter and 2 1/8" outer.

I always liked the the big shots the best. but with the short shots they perform better with baffles in them. I always thought the short shots where about 2 inches too short.

Yep I misread the OP question, would he lose HP from stock pipes? (Chronic case of OFD!)
Sorry, I read in my mind compared to other pipes which the answer is Yes.
I had V&H Staggered Short Shots (sound amazing!) but compared to my Bassani Road Rage II the power difference was substantial as was the Torque.
