Ape's/Z Bars with Stock Cables 13 Street Bob
 

Hello Everyone, I am looking into adding Apes/Z Bars to my 2013 Street Bob. I have read So Many threads saying you can go up to 14" with stock cables, and some yr's have longer stock cables then others. Nothing is specific to the 13 Street Bob stock cables or how tall I could go with them, I have the stock 10" mini apes on my bike. I am looking at the Santee High Bonanza II & R6C, I like the look of the bars with the corner angle bracket but open to all. What 14" would work with my stock Cables and If you got Pictures of your 14'' Post them, Everyone loves to check em out. :icon_tinykitball: Thanks!!

i have the 12" r6c's on my 13 sb, and while i have a little slack on my cables, i'm not sure i would have been able to go 14" comfortably. maybe someone else will chime in to prove me wrong, but once I got the 12" on there i decided i made the right choice. i don't know, i guess there is a bit of slack, but it seemed like there was less when installing.

Stock bars are much closer to 12. Pretty sure you can do 14's. Might be tight though.

I've read that people had to straighten out the 90 degree bends on the throttle cables. I've got 14" z bars waiting for me at home to be installed. Gonna try and do it with stock everything.

I Have read that a lot also, but everything I have seen is 06-2010 Bobs. I think I am going to get 14 also and just go for it. Just want I little more Confirmation I guess. Also some 14's wont work so choosing the right one's is the challenge. I like the R6C like Duece Street Bob but Im thinkin bout chrome and they don't do chrome yet. So Santee Bonanza II but the grip height is low though the rise is 15", so Wild 1 Outlawz may be the choice!!

I've just ordered a set of chrome outlaw z 14's .. just waiting on delivery from the US and then I will be attempted to fit them with stock wiring and riser

Spoke to Robbie13 who said its snug but it worked for him (albeit on a 2010 model)

What size are the apes on a 2010? my 2013 are pretty much 12inches so surely we should be able to eek a couple more inches out of them without much hassle

Now will it matter how bars sit, with forks or straight up? I guess we shall see, I still am undecided on bars. So pics would be awesome to see.

I have stock FXDB cables (I don't know from which year, because I bought a set of take offs) on my FXD and I have run stock FXDB bars and 10" (28" wide) Zbars, both on 4" risers, and I now have 12" Bungking Tbars on stock risers. I have always had a little extra, maybe 1.5" of play in my lines. I straightened my banjo fitting at my front master cylinder and re-routed my clutch cable to give myself a little extra reach. You will usually have more rise on Zbars, as they twnd to run a little narrower than apes you should be safe up to about 14", but definitely fine at 12"..
