Maintaining Black Denim Paint
Those who have purchased a Bob with black denim paint, what did H-D tell you about taking care of the flat finished paint?
Thanks! Crow |
RE: Maintaining Black Denim Paint
That should be interesting, I think wax would tend to give it a bit of a shine.

RE: Maintaining Black Denim Paint
You mean, people actually wax their bikes? I have a hard enough time washing it. I'd think that the new black denim will be interesting to take care of.

RE: Maintaining Black Denim Paint
You are not to use wax or harsh cleaners on it like wheel and tire cleaner. You may use Harley Gloss, dish soap and water or a cleaner with vinegar in it. I have found it very easy to clean and keep clean so far. It is not flat but a satin finish. If you did wax it it would be more shiny and would not age the way HD intended. I have the service bulletin I will upload in a pdf file. Willie |

I don't know about this denim look, I like clean and shiny and not something that has to age to look right unless it's wine:D JMHO

HD Service Bulletin for Denim Black Care
Here is the first part and I am converting the second part in a jpg now will post this evening. I saw a St Bob in Colbalt Blue today at the Dealers. Looked nice but the Denim Black is really growing on me. I like it better than when I first saw it. At any rate it is a tank and two fenders to get painted a few years down the pike if I change my mind. later ! Willie |

Willie, i wanted to say thanks again for all the great info you have shared with us since you bought your bike....Thanks!! Crow |
RE: HD Service Bulletin for Denim Black part 2
My Springer came with a lot of chrome on it. I think that if I was to ever buy a Bobber, I would just keep it clean and let it age naturally , just to be different from my Springer. Sometimes I like a bike that shows a little age, especially a bike with a retro look. To me, it kinda adds to that old style look that it has.
