Tips on removing HD logo from gas tank?
Hello.
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the HD logo from the gas tank? (its not a sticker) its metal letters. Only tips from someone whom has done this, or seen it done. Thanks |
I did it on my 09 streetglide. I parked it in the sun and hit it with a hair dryer. Then I used a piece of fishing line eased it in behind the logo into the two faced tape and pulled from the front to the back. Then I used WD-40 to remove residue and a good wash and wax after. This worked perfect for me good luck and I love it with no emblem.

^^^^Exactly!

Let it get hot in the sun all day, i used a small flat head screwdriver, go to a corner and use the flat head to pull the decal toward you away from the bike (obviously dont touch the paint on your tank), mine popped off with 100% no residue or anything on the tank.

Put it in the sun all day and it might just fall off. Mono line.

As stated aboved park in sun if possible or eat with hair dryer, Soak with Wd-40 for a ew minutes, Use Detal Floss, Mono Fishing Line (not braided) in a sawing motion. Have removed many most are easy, some a little harder. The metal in the tank is thin, I seen a friend dent his with his thumb trying to pry of emblem.

I used this method except I used Goo Gone instead of WD-40. Both work though.

Took the tinny logo off my 2012 Streetglide. I have a quartz work light that puts out a lot of heat, used that instead of sunshine, not so close that it would damage the paint. Let some 3M adhesive remover soak in for a few minutes. Used some mono fishing line and sawed it behind the double stick. More 3M spray to get any remaining goo off, a little soap and water, and a couple coats of wax and you can not tell any tank badges were ever there. This was on vivid black. Can't say about denim paint.
