Default 88 to 95 is it worth the money

Hi All, recently had my motor (02 carb'd) rebuilt due to a bad cam bearing, I didn't have the money for the 95 kit but did have a 203 cam installed with the SE hyd tensioner kit, my question is would a 95 big bore kit make a big difference, I can't afford to do the heads just the 95 kit with my SE 203 cam, looking for reliability so thinking of going with stock compression pistons, what are your thoughts

For two up riding it's a good mod. One up it'll **** off some of the newer bigger displacement motors. Just keep in mind it's still hooked up to a 5 speed. My 02 has that mod and it's mechanically more quiet than my new 103 on the Road Glide.

One of nicest benifits to a BB is bringing the compression up for cams that need it - that way you get two benifits for the effort. But if your cams don't need it or you are not going to raise the compression for whatever reason then the benifits are reduced. If you were to do the mod yourself, then it is pretty affordable and might still be worth the effort. Paying some shop to do it - not sure it it will be enough reward for the $$$.

"I didn't have the money" "I can't afford" "looking for reliability"
Sounds like you have answered your own question.
Just ride it and enjoy the ride.

i was thinking about doing the same thing. i have andrew 26 cams in now an that did make a diff i can notice. with that being said i dont see why going up in displacement would not make a diff. it might not be a rocket but it should give it a kick in the ***!

You can have cheap, fast, or reliable, pick 2 is what i was always told... i have a 95' in mine, did the work in house so saved some good money, my buddy chad helped me as he went to a 107 NOS on his so i got the jugs and pistons from him, saved me some $ and i went full out, replacing the main with a lefty and welding and true'n the crank as well
