New seat for my '12 Wide Glide. Opinions?
Trying to decide between the Harley Sidekick which I can get for little over $200 on ebay.
http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/sidekick-seat The Le Pera Daytona sport also on ebay for about $300 http://lepera.com/seat_pgs/v3_Dyna_W....php?SEATID=15 Also considering the Le Pera Daytona 2 up. http://lepera.com/seat_pgs/v3_Dyna_W....php?SEATID=12 Just wondering if the extra money on the Le Pera is worth it over the HD brand seat. They are very similar in design. I only take a passenger every now and then 90% its just me. However when I do take someone they complain about the stock WG pillion. I have a feeling the first 2 options aren't gonna be any better for the passenger than stock. |
Of your three options I think the Le Pera seats will be more comfortable than the Harley Sidekick seat and worth the extra expense.
If you want to have any comfort for a passenger then the Le Pera Daytona 2 up seat would be my recommendation. Otherwise the Le Pera Daytona Sport would be the one. I have no personal experience with Le Pera seats but have only heard good things about them. Mustang seats could be another option for you. I have personally used two seats from Mustang, the Fastback and Tripper Solo, and really like both of them. I ride solo 100% so I have no concern for a passengers comfort. The Fastback is very similar to the Daytona Sport. |
I vote D none of the above. Check out C&c seats they run around the $300 mark. I have a C&c sport tour on my wg. The seat is awesome.

This is what I put on my 05 Wide Glide. If you are going to 2up a lot this is a nice comfy seat for rider and passenger. Just my opinion..

I liked the Lepera Daytona Sport I had on my XL. Very well made seat, comfortable with great lower back support. An advantage is Lepera uses a metal seat pan instead of plastic like HD. Can't really comment on passenger comfort. I would have put another on my Dyna but got a Mustang Fastback instead after reading so many positives. Actually, after riding the Mustang I think the two seats are very similar in quality, style, and comfort. I think the Lepera fit the XL slightly better but couldn't pass up the sale price on the Mustang for my 2004 Low Rider which saved $100 compared to the Lepera. Check out westendmotorsports.com. They've got a lot of seats with good prices and I was very satisfied with my order.
