Brand New 2013 street bob won't start

Brand new bike I brought home one week ago, been rode 3 times and I went to ride yesterday and it won't start. Lights and gauges come on except for headlight. Run button is on, battery light stays illuminated. The red electrical light comes on, goes off then back on. When you hit the start button, nothing what so ever. No clicking, no sound, nothing. Last time I rode, the bike was locked in the off position. Any clues anyone? I'm finely calling the dealer Monday morning but was curious if anyone ever heard of this

Is it in neutral?

Heather2084 03-02-2014 03:02 PM

It won't start in neutral or in gear with clutch engaged

Let the dealer "deal with it" you have the right idea----It is supposed to start ! Allow the dealer the privilege of fixing it (under warranty) so you do not have this problem again !

Loose battery connection? Had this problem with mine when I bought it new in '08. Sometimes I think they are in a hurry during assembling and forget to tighten things here and there. As was said by flickerdart let the dealer deal with it.

It certainly is not supposed to work like that. I would like very much to hear from you again on what the culprit is in this thread when they solve it.

I swear, the woes of something you pay good money for and not working like it should is worse than a marriage gone bad.

At least when it's a bike that ain't working right, you wish it would :icon_clapclap:

Sounds like it's in gear. You see the neutral light?

Check the battery connections, if it will not start in neutral then, call the dealership to come and get it so they can find the problem.
I would not mess with much on it.
Let them figure it out.

Sounds like you didn't bring the fob with you. My bike does that if I forget mine.

Thanks for the responses. I'll definetly let the dealer deal with it, as well as the trailering of the bike back for over 100 miles. Unfortunately it's not a key fob issue and the battery has been checked. My brother in law couldn't even get it to crank with a running start. I'll let you guys know what happens but it's beyond frustrating!!
