Memphis shades batwing on 2013 Dyna Fat Bob Review

9 Attachment(s)
I just Finished installing the batwing fairing on my bob and thought of sharing the experience with those looking for the same product.

bought them of jpcycle:
563-828 MEMPHIS SHADES BATWING FAIRING $279.99
606-952 9IN SMOKED SPOILER WINDSHIELD $89.99
751-626 TRIGGER LOCK HDWE F/S $142.99
751-916 M SHADE BATWING WIND DEFLECTOR $24.99
Total: $538

shipping was fast even when it was an international shipping

Installation:
  • Let me start by saying don't waste your time trying to install this by yourself, its doable i did it but wasted lots of time trying to find the right clearance height and mounting the batwing to the bike, if u can get the help of someone it will be a max 25 to 30 min job.
  • It comes on and off in matter of seconds.
  • If you have a Fat Mini apes your hands will be out of the feering ( those looking for hand covers it wont do it)
  • It looks good and not bad at all

Test Drive:
  • i took it for a short spin on the highway with variety of speeds wearing a half helmet 65 to 85 m/h, i tested with my hands to see if the air is touching the helmet that coming of the windshield but there is nothing touching the helmet windshield is 9 inch spoiler and am 6 feet tall.
  • the problem though is from the air coming from down under the fairing through my legs ( forward controls ) hitting my face straight away. they have something called Memphis shades lowers customs i will soon add that and re test it

Fresh new pics with the sunlight

from what I can see, looks pretty cool on your Fat Bob. Looking forward to daylight pics.

Can't tell much from the dark pics, but from what I've read in other posts on the Memphis Shades on a Fatbob, the lowers made all the difference in deflecting that lower air flow. Thanks for the review and post up some pics we can see. :icon_eddie:

i have the same setup (just with the ghost spoiler instead of smoke) on my 09 and your review is spot on.

one note on mounting. the width (long ways) of a business card is just about the perfect distance between the clamps. and if you loosen the mount points it makes it easier to mount the shield and get the headlight in the holes. i did have to readjust the headlight after mounting the fairing as i put some pressure on it when mounting and it got pushed down slightly.

with my full face the updraft from my shins/knees is noticable but not annoying. changing the angle of the fairing had little to no effect on updraft or where the wind came over the shield. using mids or the highway pegs doesnt change the wind much.

i was looking into the lowers and but not sure if there will be room to relocate the turn signals with them installed. with the stock bar setup the turn signals are completely blocked by the fairing. so i havent purchased the lowers until i decide what to do about the signals.

hands are well covered, to the point where i rarely bust out the winter gloves anymore. with the 6" pullback risers they should still be covered.

Test Drive update:

Went with a full face helmet today with the same speeds 65 M/H to 85 M/H nothing change same buffeting from the air coming from downside

have a 12 inch normal windshield going to replace the 9 inch spoiler windshield and test again

Not much of problem from the air coming from down under the fairing through my legs changed out the forward controls with floor boards and it's better as for wind.
