Default fuel mileage

Was reading some posts about fuel mileage per tank and was wondering how the dynas fared. Although my WG is supposed to have a 5 gal tank (per the manual) I've never put more than 4 gal in even when I flipped over to reserve. But when I pulled my tank I found the vent tube coming out of the top was all gooped up and the hose had swollen so I'm not sure it was getting enough ventilation, so maybe it wasn't gettin a good fuel flow, but any way, I seem to be getting around 180 miles per tank. How about everyone else?

Last time I checked which was awhile ago,I was getting around 50. I would go to about 200 miles and fill up. Usually took around 4 gal. Now, who knows, I don't worry about it much with all the mods to it...

If you are getting 180 miles for 4 gal that is 45 mpg. My 07 only has 380 miles on it butI got my first run last weekend and got 45 mpg.

I guess we should clarify what year bike we are riding.
Mine is an 06 Superglide.
I have my stock piipes drilled out, and a K&N full flow filter on it, with a TFI, putting out about 74HP.
I get close to 50 mpg on the open road (twisties, mountains, highway), and 42-48 back and forth to work, and around town.
The around town trips really mess with my fuel mileage. I guess a lot of fuel gets wasted at stop lights, etc.

Hope this helps........ HD rates my 06 at 50 mpg highway, and I think 44 city. It seems pretty close.
I believe the 07's are rated at 53 Highway, and 47 city (not sure).

Thanks Doug, and everyone else. Just trying to figure what kind of distance I can get mileage wise when I head out cross country with full bags and my 100 lb lady on the back. I'm figuring conservatively 160 miles per tank.

I just looked at the HD website.....and is Harley friggin nuts? They are listing the specs for the '07's in metric! Gas mileage is no longer given as miles per gallon, it's in liters. Torque in nm....which I think is newton meters. WTF? Bore and stroke in cm...or was it milileters? I don't know and I don't want to know. Leave the metric specsfor overseas, this is the USA dammit.

The last three fill ups I got 31,31, and 35. Must be the way I ride it around town. Just can not stay off the throttle. I was surprised when I started checking as I figured it would be around 40.
