Breather Dyno question

Hey Everyone,

I'd like to put a new breather on my '10 Dyna.
I've got V&H Pro pipe 2 into1 and a Baron's custom BAK breather.
The Baron's looks cool but I'm having too many instances where the bolts holding the cover on either work loose (even with blue Loctite applied) or they snap. Almost lost the whole thing on a ride last year, fortunately I had some electrical tape with me and got it home.
So my question is: if I can get another breather, say an Arlen Ness or Roland Sands product that has roughly the same surface area as the Baron's filter, can I forego another Dyno?
Thanks

Yes. It won't make a difference. Just get something that doesn't fall off.

Could you replace the bolts with something different? If you wanted a lower cost solution.

All open style breathers are going to provide more air than our engines can use...so performance wise, they're basically all the same...just a matter of looks & style.
Get yourself an A-N Big Sucker & be done with it....cheap & works well & accepts many different covers.

Check out DK Customs too.

While almost all aftermarket air cleaners will flow more air than our engines can eat....they are NOT all created equal.

Picture of bike with typical air cleaner feeding the hot oily air back into the air cleaner from the breathers.

Another set of pictures-

This is an 06 Ultra that had the typical air cleaner with the breathers going into the engine....at 8000 miles

This is the same 06 Ultra with external breathers with 27,000 miles more on it

Not only will an engine run better if it is getting just air and gas fed into it (vs. oxygen depleted air, gas and oil), but it will last longer also!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. They've got a Derby Sucker where you can use a 5 hole derby cover of your choice.
Thanks for the input
