Default Dead Battery and melted negative terminal

So last week after I installed a Power Commander V with V&H Short Shots I didn't properly tighten my positive and negative battery cables.

Got off of work in the morning, jumped on the bike, hit the start button and the engine tried to turn over then click click click. I new right away it was the battery cables. Jumped off the bike and saw smoke coming from under the seat. HOLY CRAP!!.

Grabbed a screw driver to take off the seat and this is what I found. Well long story short. Called AAA and they brought a enclosed trailer and took the bike home.

Dropped an new battery in the bike and everything is good to go. Thanks to all the great info on this forum I was able to trouble shoot this issue right away. And yes I will buy a battery tender for the new battery.

Ride safe everyone.

Well I thought I did with a screw driver. The new battery I used a torque wrench and ripped the bolts down to spec. I guess I got excited about the new pipes and tuner.

Something happened to me, not as bad, but mine must have rattled loose last summer. Mine didn't melt like that, so I'm still using it but has starting issues and after looking EVERYTHING (except the battery) I finally figured out the prob.

Live and learn......
