Default '00 FXDX Rear Shock Dilemma

Just picked up a used '00 FXDX for a good price but the right rear shock is leaking out oil. Is there a shock solution out there that does not break the bank? Note, this bike is not a canyon carver by any means. Mostly 2-up riding with the wife....day trips etc. This is my back in the US on vacation bike due to my SG being overseas. Anyway, I was thinking about going with a similar length standard shock pending getting the OEM's either rebuilt or replaced.

fxdx shocks are in high demand, but you can still find them on ebay for $3-350 pretty regularly.
i'm a huge fan of the newer progressive 444's, which are going to be their comparable shock. they're around $450 i believe? you could easily get away with something cheaper, but you've got a nice bike, spend the extra coin and get some good shocks.

Heard, not confirmed however, that RaceTech will rebuild them.

Well if all else fails, i was pricing a new set and found 2 online Harley dealers that have them listed for the $225 each range. Kind of pricey but not too bad considering the newest ones you could find off ebay are almost 10 years old and shocks do wear out. I am assuming if they are listed they are still available, the front fork parts still are. I personally am hesitant about trying aftermarket shocks after putting many thousands of miles on the stockers. Harley got the FXDX suspension right the first time and they work perfectly for what the FXDX is designed for. I will go back with stock replacements.

Well, I pulled the pin on a set of new OEM shocks. With my HOG dealer discount they will run about $250 each and $35 to have the dealer install. I will feel better having what the bike was designed to have.
