7" trucklite conversion

Here is my version of a 7" Trucklite LED headlamp conversion; kinda Fugly , but like this chick I knew way back when, I like it, cuz it definitely gets the job done right. Let there by friggin' light, man.

Brief rundown of price and process for other budget minded individuals:

7" Trucklite lamp 169.00 with shipping- Ebay
Used Softail Bucket 25.00 " "
Show Chrome French Ring 25.00 " "
Powder Coating 25.00
Closed cell rubber door insulation and new bolt 5.86
Total: 249.86 ( 'bout $150 worth of flippin' the Bird at the 'Corporation', whom stuck a friggin' bicycle headlamp on my FXDB at the factory).

Not much to it. U need some sort of extended ring, as the Trucklite protrudes out of the Softail bucket, and will move around a little without something for the ring to sit against, closed sell window/insulation around the Trucklite lamp seems to fit the bill. Decide what you are going to with the harness: replace; take the H4 connector apart and reassemble ( better break out the solder gun); splice existing wires in new bucket ( use screw on type connectors), etc. ( Other folks have posted detailed versions of all this on the forum).

I agree! I would like to see how it lights up the road. It looks good by the way!!

Sure guys, that's a good idea. I'll get some pics of it lighting up the road tonight and post them up. Rode up to Bonners Ferry yesterday ( daytime, lotta rain), and noticed a definite attention getting effect on the cagers when on high beam. That plus lower current draw, around 2 amps on low and 4 on high is also why I installed it. Thanks for the compliments on appearance BTW.

One badassed light...love the fork boots, they'll save your seals and look business like same as the light! Thumbs up!

Thanks have feelings this thread might cost me some money. Do lots of rides home from work at about 3am from city all the way to the country. Just have a feeling im gonna get the real wildlife picture when I turn the lights up. Might try and scare me into the cage.

OK, here some shots of how it lights up the road at night. Barricade sign at the end of the road is around 150 yards away from the bike ( been awhile since I shot on a range, so that's a guess :icon_rolleyes:). Have the bucket set slightly to the right, and it does project a central artifact from the center of the lamp, which you can see in the photos. Almost dangerous on high beam around town, lights up the frickin' signs brighter than hell. On low beam, actually throws a beam wider than it is long, but still significantly longer than the stock peanut light does on high beam. 1st pic is of course low beam, 2nd high, and 3rd is just camera flash.

Ya can see it from outer space! No deer gonna sneak up on you but it will draw moths the size of bats in the summer time! Better get a good windshield next!
