I'm pretty happy with the LRS front brakes. The rear is nothing to write home bout, but the front felt solid. It wasn't too much of a step back from the front brake on my Buell.

Agreed. A d-bag move. The LR had dual front disc brakes when it was introduced and for a long time after. It should stay that way.

I couldn't imagine riding a 650+ pound bike without dual front brakes...was a key selling feature for me.

Especially riding 2 up...*gag*

Well with my wallet 767 dollars lighter the bikes back. Been riding each day this week for the commute. Two more working days then some much needed time off to chase salmon. Fork seals and front pads replaced. Have the shop manual in hand. Need to invest in a lift so I can start doing the maint myself. Dropping 5 bills every 5k especially now the bikes out of warranty is getting old.

5 bills for every 5k service? no wonder they gave me the 1k free. Damn! with only 1.6k on mine I better start learning some HD DIY.

Get the service manual for your bike, you won't regret it. These things are actually very simple to work on, especially as far as maintenance goes, hence why I do as much as I can myself. I like to think I'm fairly mechanically competent but I'm not rebuilding motors or anything like that...

My dealer charged me $340 for the 1K, 5K, 10K, and 15K. Full AMS synthetic (motor and trans). HD sent me a $50 gift card off any one service, so the 10K service only cost me $290. My dealer just raised the price of the full AMS sunthetic service to $360.

$500 per servicing seems high to me.

When motorcyclists phrase a service that does not include valve lash adjustments as "only $290," then too many riders are being taken for a ride. Dealers are certainly helping the Indie, by charging outrageous serice fees. For what they do, paying "only $290" is being robbed.

Agreed. I think the $340, and now $360, I paid was high but $500 like the OP stated is very high. FYI, I onky paid that $290 one time when I had a gift card HD sent me to thank me for buying my bike. It would have been $340 without it.

Service is a "cash cow" for dealerships. Paying crazy money for an hour's worth of work. And that's if you are unfamiliar with the workings...
DIY and not only save thousands, but you become more familiar with your bike, and you'll be more conscientious too. These bikes aren't that complex....yet.
