2014 Low Rider
#5802
Hello all- First time posting to this thread. And before you guys tell me to search I have and in particular this thread. Some of the stuff you guys have done while it all looks good I haven't always heard about the function part. I have a stock vivid black 2017, bought it new 16 months ago and have almost 6,000 mi on it. I ride on weekends mainly, in the hills away from town. I got a few questions:
1. For my riding style, I am good with the stock bars. The grips are way too small in diameter. What do you recommend grip wise with stock bars if you have changed them?
2. Stock seat with spacer removed, I am cramped slightly (5'9 200 lb,30 in inseam). I can live with the stock seat but was thinking about a solo seat. I would like to sit back at least another inch. I have read the Sundowner solo would achieve this, but the Sundowner one piece might actually move me up closer. I wouldn't rule out a Street Bob seat on this bike due to peg location difference, but I don't think a Street Bob seat is good on a Street Bob at all. The seat needs to be equal to or better than stock comfort wise. I am not changing out a seat for looks, and want to run a fender rack and a bitch bar with another rack at times. No saddlebags
3. Windshields and fairings. If I go here, I don't want to increase buffeting on my head just to be able to hang on better at higher speeds. Looking through instead of over doesn't bother me. I want it pretty damn quiet and functional. I don't care about looks. You guys seem to run the gamut here but I don't read a lot of functionality in your posts. I know what to expect but the good has to outweigh the bad here or I won't even bother. This is a better sans windshield bike than my Fat Boy ever was.
4. Bung King front crashbar. How well does it pull duty for highway pegs? I would think you wouldn't keep your feet on them very long due to vibration.
In closing, no matter what, this bike is a keeper. No more trading up down or sideways. Regret trading my first Low Rider to this day, but I think this bike is night and day better than that FXRS. Thanks for keeping the thread alive

All the things that go into making a great bike.

Ghetto style repair of my broken horn bracket...drill 2 holes in each piece of the broken bracket, and ZIP TIES. (No duct tape on this one...) I think it would actually last longer than the stock bracket because it is able to move in the breeze. But it hits the frame, so I have a couple pieces of foam on each side. Only temporary...I really need my horn!

There is a hole in the bracket which is for a plastic wire retainer to plug into. The brake happens right across the hole as you can see in the pic. Dumb design, the metal just isn't strong enough.
