Are Bagger Guys Waking Up?

Funniest thing happened to me today. I stopped by my local dealer to just pass a little time and browse. As I was leaving, I was getting ready to start up my bike, and I hear a voice say "how do you like that Super Glide?". I turn around and there's a guy about 55 or so. He walks over and tells me how much he misses his 2005 FXD and how he hates his Road King. He said the RK hurt his back, his wife hates riding it, and he wishes he had his FXD back! He then offered to trade me even up-his Road King for my FXDC. I kinda laughed and thought he was joking, but he said, "no, I'm dead serious, I'll trade you even up right now". Well, I went on to tell him how I had just recently traded my RK for the Super Glide, and for the same reasons he talked about. He said he rode his FXD out to the West Coast, and was way more comfortable on it than on the RK. He went on and on for about 20 minutes about how much he missed his Dyna! He had a 2007 Road King with 16,000 miles and a nice stereo system, but he hates it. He tried everything he could to talk me into trading me. It got to the point where he was almost begging me! I rode home thinking..."man, I'm glad I got rid of my RK!" Poor guy, he was drooling over my bike. Are the " you gotta have a bagger" crowd finally coming to their senses? ;)

I had no problem coming back to a Dyna. I last rode one, an '80 Wide Glide, in the early 80s. Been on baggers since '85. The Touring line does what it was designed for. In my case, at almost 56 and with arthritis getting worse by the year, it was getting hard to move that weight around. I am loving being back on a Low Rider and have been reminded what riding is all about.

Same for me, but I'll be 63 in two weeks.

So far no issues with the weight. I am at 52 years young. Have thought about a sporty for buzzing around town though

Baggers are here to stay. It's a personal choice. I've been only been riding baggers since 2007 & I'm on my second one now. I'm 66 & when I get 'Older', I just might get a DYNA, again. I would like to find a FXR. IMO, that's one of the best bike HD has ever made. Rode the hell out of them, back in the day.

So one guy complains about his RK and so that means all bagger guys are waking up to Dynas? Right. I liked my Dyna for around town, but for a long trip I'll take my bagger any day.

Nope...that's what my Sportster's for...

It's just those newer baggers. I love my 89 Tour Glide. I don't think it's the bagger, but the frame; as soon as it's moving, that old EVO doesn't feel heavy at all. I also have a 1200C to play with, and some lesser toys, so when I feel like a change, just take another bike out, sure helps keep that "do I need a different bike" feeling away.

As far as that "sporty around town", I like the sporty out in the boonies on less traveled 2 lanes with few straight sections. I actually prefer my Helix scooter in town, it creeps with traffic without slipping the clutch in first gear for blocks like I've had to do on the sporty a few times. The big EVO actually handles slow traffic better, and I take it over the sporty for a parts run to the Harley shop. Never took the scoot, not sure what they'd do to me...
