Default Strange and concerning noise.

I have a dyna fxd 2009 with 11k. I just had the 10k done but lately when I start the bike after riding, the bike makes a sound like when in a car the fly wheel is worn out, then it turns on. I ran the diagnostics on the odometer but nothing comes up. It has the SE heavy breather, Xied and the dealer tuned up. Any thoughts before I take it to the dealer?

Does the bike have the original battery? Sounds like the battery could be weak.

Could be the starter is going bad.

The sound in a car is usually the starter. If the fly wheel has a chipped tooth the starter will whirl then clank when it finally catches.

install a battery charger to battery and set it on boost or a set of jumper cables to a running vehicle and see how it sounds than. will eliminate the battery issue before buying one if that's not the issue.

After riding and stopping for a few on my 07 LR it would make a grinding sound when I went to start her up again. Not sure if that is what you are experiencing but if it is mine turned out to be a bad starter clutch. Bought an All ***** Starter Clutch and problem solved.
