Default '02 dyna vs '14 street glide

Friend of mine has a new street glide.
Not sure if it a 103 or 110 ???, but we went for a ride on Sunday and ran them from a stop sign.
I am kinda surprised, I pulled away pretty easy and got about 4-5 lengths on him til about 110 mph. Then he was closing on me but we had to slow down.
My bike has slip ons, jet kit, and intake. 88".
He has pipes, programmer, and intake.

Should I have been able to pull away from him so easily????

He was scared or doesn't know how to ride.

Your bike is a lot lighter than his. Low end maybe. But top end he should pass you up.

You were doing 110MPH? Holy Shiite. Maybe he was afraid to wind it up so much.

He's certainly not scared to ride it. He drags his pipes and pegs on every corner.

Yea, my bike is lighter, but also smaller motor.. And, He weighs maybe 10-15 pounds more than me.

What's wrong with 110 mph ?? Would have kept going bu we were coming up on a car in front of us.

I guess what i'm getting at is, I bought all the stuff to 95" my motor this winter, but maybe it has already been done ??
Bought the bike with 4,500 miles, but don't really know the history or previous owner.

any way of checking the bore size without removing the heads ??

I would hate to tear it down to install the 95" kit, only to find it's already been done

It's not uncommon, I have a 95" in my '01 and I have yet to run with a 103" or 110" that can catch me.
I don't know where the notion came from that going over 100 on the 5 speed bikes is so difficult....I've seen 110 in 4th on mine many times.

Maybe the "dealership" performance bikes are slugs, but the bikes that were set up by people that actually know how to make'em run aren't.

In 2003, Me and a friend of mine got stopped on our FXR's for going 135 MPH on US 95 in Nevada, and I still had some more if I wanted it.

Short stroke engine. Winds up faster. My stock 88 WG is pretty mean in 1-3rd gear. That short stroke builds steam quick and flats out at higher speed. Feels like it's screaming at 80mph but it sure will get there in a hurry

There's not as much performance difference between 88's and newer, larger engines as you would think. Newer bikes are running very lean to meet emissions and gearing was changed. So while they will cruise at lower rpm's at high speeds, acceleration was not really improved.
