FAT Front tire question - FatBob
Getting ready to order a change of tires, and was looking at the avon 150/80-16 up front. This tire looks like it adds a bit of height, so was just playing around with other avon tires sizes to see if I could avoid the height. The height isn't bad, just started day dreaming about an even fatter tire.
This brings me to my question: Has anyone put a 180/60-16 on the front? It looks like the bolts that hold the fender on would need a directional swap and maybe another bolt altogether, but is there anything else? Any pics, if you do have this size?

What would possess you to want to put a 180 tire on the front - as the Fat Bob runs a 130 in the front and a 180 in the rear?
I have seen some here put a 200 on the rear and the corresponding front tire would be a 150

Stumbled
I had found a similar thread, which is why I was looking at the 150 front. I may post there, seems like it is still active. Why would I want a 180 on the front? Why not? I like the look of it, I know some may think it's cartoonish, but I like the look of it.
Thanks for the link, I did post to it so hopefully I someone has tried it. It would be VERY close to the forks, but math on paper looks like it should work...of course paper and real world don't always agree.

I believe you will need a 5.5" wide rim if you go the route and put on the 180 up front - the stock 3.5" rim won't work.
Interested in seeing the pics when your done as I believe as you said, it will look cartoonish - as well as interested in your reviews on it's ride - if it actually rides as well as you think it will, I would believe someone would have done this route already - I see the ride being sluggish and lots of inputting into the bars to get it to turn
But then again, there always has to be a first for everything

test fitment
Finally got my new wheels, so upon removing the rear tire, and removing front, I rolled it around. The nut/bolt that attaches the front fender on are the limiting factor; however, removing the fender allows the tire to fit. It spins fine between the forks, although laying the fender on the tire makes the fender look very small. Avon makes a 170/70 R16 that is narrower, .33", and gives close speeds at the original 130...within .1xx miles. I think that difference is closer than the 150/80 that has been used. Honestly, in my opinion, I would want to run this without a fender, need support, but it can be done. Pics to come.
There are other factors to consider, I have not driven it with this tire, for one. The other thing is that it may get fatter with me on the bike and rub. At this point I don't know if I'll go with the 170/70, .33", or a 160/80, .74", difference from the rear tire that I rolled around...The 160 is a big speed difference and only .39" wider than the 150, and would require a wider wheel.
