I put new handlebar on last summer and just got around to shoving wires back in neck. Got them in finally and put new battery in it and riding down hwy and it start backfiring and shutting down and kicking back on. Lights go haywire and reads low volts. I can't find problem and stealer told me it could be 1 of many problems and would be $350-$500 to find problem and fix. Any ideas. 2008 street bob by the way

 

Wires shorted somewhere.
My guess is the last project with the handlebar.
Try and check for pinched wire under the bar and controls.

 

Checked it all real good. My big fear is that when I extended wires something has come loose. I'm thinking I'll have to redo wiring. It ran fine for a year until I put wires in neck

 

It'll run fine until it gets going down road and when I pull clutch in it runs volts back up and all is fine
