Default street bob brake light wirings frayed/ replacement harness?

Was installing the turn signal relocation kit on my friends street bob, and discovered nearly all the wires are extremely frayed. What's the best solution to replace the wires? Cut and splice new ones?

Also, the pin harness for his turn signals are in terrible condition to, the pins are all bent and frayed, and the harness's themselve are lookin pretty bad. Is it safe to just cut the harness out and splice the wires? How much would replacement harness/pins cost?

I don't remember, does the 2011 have that stupid light on the fender?

Is it just the turns that are frayed? If so, here is what I would do. I would either spend th time and money and rebuild a complete new harness from under the seat all the way back, shop around on ebay or other places, you should be able to build a complet harness for under $40 or so, not including the crimper you'll need, a cheap one goes for around $30, high end $200-$300. However, knowing how much of a pain in the *** this is, to save time and accomplish an ideal result. Cut and splice each wire back together where it is frayed and cover with some heat shrink, then cover all the wires as a group with heat shrink. As for the connector ends, pick up some new pins (might cost around $10 with extras), de-pin the connectors (take pictures before removing pins), cut the ends off and attach new connectors and re-pin. This should work and be a good fix if done right. Worse case, order a complete new harness.

Good luck.

Easiest place is the dealer, you can find them online also. But if you go to the dealer they should have them in stock. Either take a picture of the connector to show them or have a good idea of how to explain exactly what you need (2011 Street Bob rear turn sig connector and pins, do you need the light side or the harness side). I find pics work best and save on the explaining or mistake of getting the wrong part.

Ill look into that. Would there be any danger in splicing/soldering the wires together and bypassing the harness?

I looked up the cost of replacing the entire wire harness at Ronnie's Harley-Davidson parts finder and it is less than $37 + $10 shipping. I think this would be a more cost effective and cleaner repair.

If you go this route I would recommend removing the rear fender to fish the wire harness through the conduit. This would also allow you to install the turn signal relocation kit to the rear fender on a work bench allowing easier access. Then just bolt the fender back and your done.

I had this happin with my 2011 wg. I noticed the wires rubbing on tire when installing the turnsignal relocating kit. I spliced in longer wiring so I was able to rerun them without the possibility of them rubbing through again
