I just tried putting in a LED bulb for tailight and not impressed. Girlfriend following behind me said it was dim and not as bright as turn signals on 97 Sportster. Any one have any luck with Silverstars for direct replacements or something better out there?

If you want better visibility / brighter lights, I doubt you'll be satisfied with any of the 1157 direct replacement bulb-type LED solutions ... Cheapest way to get brighter is to use a 2057 in place of the 1157 ... If you want LEDs, spent the money and upgrade for real ... Several companies offer options ... I can personally vouch for the CD ones ...
