Default Warning light with Kuryakyn headlight

I installed a Kuryakyn phase 7 headlight on my 14 street glide last night. When I switch from low to high beams, the warning light temporarily comes on. It took a while for my FP3 to connect but showed a code of low beam shorting out high beam or something to that effect.

they accidentally sent me two lights, so I tried both and got the same thing.

The plug for the light does not seat all the way into the wiring harness. Probably 1/16" exposed.

Could that be why it's shorting?

Thanks

No, probably not. Like I said in the other thread you started yesterday, you're probably going to have to take it to a dealer and have it flashed. If you're current setting is to turn the high and low beam on when the switch is on high beam, then the circuitry in the light is probably causing the issue. I believe that the phase 7 turns both high and low on when it gets power to the high beam wire. Older bikes and vehicles had the high beam on with high, and low beam on with lo. Not both at the same time. That light was designed to be used as a replacement for sealed beam halogen lights on semi trucks, jeeps and, other older vehicles with sealed 7" headlights. If you want to test my theory, pull the low beam wire out of the connector and try switching to high beam. If the error doesn't occur and you have 12volts on your low beam wire, you will require a flash from the dealer.

Thanks for the input. You're probably right. I wasn't impressed enough with the light pattern to hassle with it so I just sent it back.
