1997 sportster having issues
Some basic info before I start:
1997 1200XLH 31000 miles
Battery is good
When I put the key into the ignition and turn it, I have been having to wiggle the key before the ignition will recognize the key is in it. Hasn't been that big of an issue but yesterday I went to start the bike and it wouldn't work. I spent about 5 minutes messing with the key and was able to find a very slight window where the ignition would recognize the key is in it and the bike would turn on. Wondering if I have to replace the ignition or just adjust something. I checked the wires and they are not the problem. If it is a full ignition replacement, how easy/hard is it to do. I'm a farmer so I'm used to doing things on my own but don't want to mess up my bike.

What you are describing is probably a mechanical problem inside the switch. These things can wear out, or suffer internal corrosion. You could try squirting some WD40 into the lock, then inserting and wiggling the key. Keep a cloth handy and keep squirting, especially if any dirt etc comes out. If that improves things it helps to confirm the lock is faulty, so buy a replacement.
