Default 1992 Fatboy Turn Signal Module Schematic

Working on a 1992 Fatboy for a buddy. Turn signal issues. In the ignition position, neither front turn signals will light up or blink. Move the ignition switch to lights and the left turn signal lights up but does not blink when the switch is pushed or held. The right turn signal will not light or blink. Move the ignition switch to acc and neither front turn signals will not light but the right turn signal will blink when the switch is pushed/held.

Lights jumper wire on ignition switch has been clipped so that lights only come on in the lights position.

Turn signal module is 68537-89c

Would like to test the module and the wires going to the module before going out to purchase a new one.

Does anyone have the wiring schematic/diagram or the test procedure that they can share with me?

Ok so I was able to find the diagnostic process for this and here it is for others that may need it. This procedure should be performed after you confirm that your turn signal bulbs are good.

Remove TSSM from wiring harness. On a 92, 93 FLSTF it's located under the ignition switch on the frame tube.

1. Check for 12 VDC at pin 2 on the wiring harness
2. Check for ground at pin 1 on the wiring harness
3. Put a jumper between pins 2 and 4 and both right side turn signals should light
4. Put a jumper between pins 2 and 6 and both left side turn signals should light
5. Put a jumper between pins 4 and 8. Depress right side turn signal switch and both right side turn signals should light
6. Put a jumper between pins 6 and 10. Depress left side turn signal switch and both left side turn signals should light

Tests should be performed with ignition switch in ignition position or lights position.

If these tests were a pass, then the TSSM is bad and needs to be replaced.

I am confused...if the module test results are what the list says, it is bad???

The module is not being tested in this process, the jumpers are installed in the Turn Signal Canceller Module connector on the wiring harness.

This process will tell you if there is a problem in the wiring.

If the bulbs are good, grounds are good, and wiring is good, by process of elimination... the Turn Signal Canceller Module is guilty (note: The TSM did not come out until 1996).

Thank you Dan89FLSTC. The TSM is on this 1992 Fatboy. It's also in the 1992, 1993 and 1994 Factory Service Module. They actually refer to it as the Turn Signal Microprocessor. Unless I'm note understanding your note or did you mean the TSSM (Turn Signal Security Module)?

The wiring schematic labels those early units as Turn Signal Canceller Module.

It appears that they finally settled on calling it the TSM somewhere around 96 or 97...

you could rig up a test circuit to function-test the module out of the bike...shouldn't be too difficult.

The test outlined gave me 99.9% confidence that it was the module. New module came in yesterday and sure enough the old one was bad.

Hope this helps others.

Completely saved my sanity with this diagnostic. Thank you! Now to find an OEM TSM for my scooter!
