Anyone know about Leoch batteries? Bought one and it let me down after a couple of months. Had to be the starter so I figured. Tested the battery only 150 Amps.

 

Yet, the OEM starter motors in the 103TCs are rated for 1.4kW. So, at 12 volts, and full power, it will draw 1.4k/12= 116.7 AMPs. So, 150 AMPs should be plenty. Is the battery fully charged?

I don't get the obsession with CCA that greatly exceeds the current the starter can draw. I understand capacity as in AmpHours. But, 440CCA exceeds the need nearly 4x.

 

Thanks for the info TRIGESSER the battery checks out at 12.8 volts but barely spins the motor. Load test for a relatively new battery should be closer to the advertised 420 CCA that 150 CCA don't you think? Trouble mostly on a cool morning. Dresser is hard to start on flat ground by yourself.

 

Why guess. Take it to an auto parts store, and have them load test it.
