So I hope this is the correct place to post this, my bike has had this issue for a while now, its an 05 sportster. after I've been riding for about 3-5 miles itll start cutting out on me when I come from a stop and start to accelerate again. I've replaced the plugs and wires. Cleaned the carb and even installed a new air filter. It still does the same thing. Could my coil be going bad or is there something else that I'm missing?

 

First and simplest question is does outside air temp make any difference in it? Is the vacuum hose for the VOES connected on the back of the carb? Is the electrical connector connected to the VOES (VOES impacts the advance on the timing during warm up and retards back to normal once warmed up)? Does the enrichner impact performance? Is your idle set correctly (should be at around 1000 RPM)? Check the resistance on your coils according to the service manual (should be 2.5-3.1 Ohms on Primary and 10,000-12,500 Ohms on the secondary coils, if outside this range coil is bad).
