Battery drains with key off
#13
What circuits are drawing with the bike off?
Is it enough to cause a problem...
How often do you ride the bike and get the battery fully charged? How long does the bike sit before it won't start? Is the battery in good shape? Connections clean and tight, battery and grounds?
0.02A x 24hrs = .48 amp hr. My Harley battery is rated at 28 amp hr.
If it takes several days for the battery to lose charge I'd get a Battery Tender and keep it hooked up when parked. If it drains over night I'd charge it and have it load tested.

OK I'm about to sound totally lame, but I'll take it if it helps my cause. I am no mechanic and make no pretenses of being one.
I have a 2013 FXDWG. I have made no mods except 16" apes back in the summer of 2013.
Around March of 2017, I was filling tires, checking oil and wiping down the bike before a ride. I turned on the switch to check the lights and that's then the old lady asked me to come in the house for "a minute".
2 hours later we finally go out to ride and I have a very dead battery. Yep, I forgot to turn off the switch.
I put her on the trickle and the next day she was fine, but she started to drain every night after that. I assumed I killed the old stock battery since it was about 4 years old.
I bought an admittedly inexpensive battery from Pep Boys to hold me over until I can afford a good one (Divorce is hella expensive, but worth every penny!).
anyhow, this new battery likes to drain while everything is off also.
It starts in the morning for work, but doesn't really want to, a few hesitations then it starts. it usually forces the trip/odometer thing back to the first position (Odometer) I usually keep it at the clock (5th position)
It charges pretty quickly and after only about 15 mins I can shut her down and restart as if its a brand new bike.
the weird thing is, it drains pretty low overnight, and a noticeable amount during my 10 hrs at work, but after 3-5 or more days, it is still as if it has been overnight. slow, but starts and charges.
I keep meaning to check the cables since I'm the knucklehead that installed it, but I thought I'd get some more ideas.
I like the fuse idea, but I have no ampmeter nor do I even know if/where the fuses are?
all help welcome!
cheers
