Default Slow battery discharge with out a battery tender hooked up.

I have a 2000 FXDWG. The battery will lose its charge in 2 weeks with out a tender hooked to it. I found a schematic for the bike. I have checked most everything that may cause the discharge. Also on the schematic it shows 2 wires on the starter, but the bike has only 1. Any suggestions or help is appreciated

Get a digital voltage meter.
Sometimes you can get a coupon for a free harbor freight digital voltage meter that includes the battery with any store purchase.
Then watch this video:

You starter has a post on top that has a fat wire to the battery positive.
Then there is a negative (ground) that runs under the starter.
Then a skinny green trigger wire.

When you do the parasitic drain test, check all fuses...then if no success disconnect the regulator and look at your meter....

I did the test and get a negative amp reading. I am using a fluke digital volt amp meter. why would it show a negative reading?

The negative might be having the pos and neg backwards.

Exactly.
If I put the negative wire on the positive that should reverse the reading.

I found the problem. Its one of two things. Either the 30 amp breaker or the rectifier, or both.
Thanks for your help.

I did find the problem with the parasitic amp test. I just want to thank you for the u tube post. it took awhile to find the problem but the test rooted it out.
