Default Fuel gauge falls out. How does it stay in fuel tank?

Fuel gauge sits in left fuel tank hole.

it just sits in the hole, don't twist it but make sure it's snug

Not sure about a Road King, but on a Dyna there is a gasket that helps snug it up.
