Default no speedometer brake/turn signals stay on when started

I recently bought a 2009 Nightster. It is running just fine. however when it is started the speedometer goes blank. The brake lights on and the turn signals will not work. All of these lights stay on bright (both filaments lit). I ran the diagnostics through the speedometer and found no error codes. I've also cleaned (not replaced) the speed sensor. Any ideas or further diagnostic test or tips you could provide I would be grateful

Check the wires under the seat, I had some similar issues with my 2011 Nightster and found that my seat has moved around a bit and crimped some wires right where the seat clamps into the bike and blew out a 15a fuse (little blue one, I suggest you buy a pack of these and keep them handy).

Also check the cables to the battery terminals and ground strap to be sure they are clean and tight.
