2017 iron 883 daymaker?

Okay so I'm looking to get a daymaker for my 17 iron but all the ones I see online say they are only built for 04-14, is there something different with the 17s? If so anyone know of any daymaker that'll work for the 17s that won't break the bank?

Hello,

From 2015 onwards Sportster models electrical system have been fitted with CAN Bus ( Control Area Network Bus ), to prevent getting error messages on these late model Sportster's you'll a CAN Bus compatible Daymaker headlight unit.

Can bus allows the electrical components to communicate with the motorcycle's ECU, but only if all the components are CAN Bus compatible, the ECU can detect if a component isn't CAN Bus compatible and it will show an error code to warn the rider that something is wrong with the electrical system.

This is H-D's attempt to prevent owners from buying custom electrical components from aftermarket manufacturers, Harley want you to buy only genuine H-D licenced electrical components for your motorcycle.

Look for an LED headlight unit that is CAN Bus compatible and you won't have any problems, Try eBay or a good motorcycle parts supplier for a good LED unit.

Many of the cheaper aftermarket headlight and turn signal units aren't CAN Bus compatible, if you buy quality aftermarket items they should be CAN Bus compatible, but at a price.

Just change the bulb to LED. https://paradiselightsllc.com/shop/s...headlight-bulb.

I used this in my '17 Iron and then moved it to my wife's '17 Freewheeler when I traded the Iron.

Even though this is old it maybe helpful to someone lurky.
the 1200 sporty is only a few pounds heavier (5-10) then the 883 so get a 1200 the yamaha you will out grow quick ( i am a yamaha fan had both the 1600 roadstar and the 1700 warrior).
the 883 you will end up doing the 1200 2250 or the 1275 kit so just get the 1200 grow into it

I have a 2016 Iron 883 (well converted now to 1200)....but the point is that I have an LED in mine and it is awesome. Here is my suggestion - for about $50 on amazon you can buy Wisamic LED light that is every bit as good as the several hundred dollar HD version and probably made in the same factory.

I have put wisamic LED lights in my HD Iron, HD FLSTN (3 lights), HD FXDWG, and Indian Scout - takes about 10-15 min to install, easiest upgrade you will do. total plug and play. Could not be happier with the product
