Default Gerbing Heated Gear

I was recently looking at the heated gear available from Gerbing. What caught my eye was their "Battery Harness Installation Guide". How is it that a company that specializes in selling heated gear can make the following statement?

"The amp draws listed are based on 12V calculations, when powered through a Motorcycle @ 13.8 - 14.1V the draw can be higher.
Example: Jacket at 12V is 6.9 amps and at 14.1V is 7.6 amps"

W = A * V

Isn't that just downright embarrassing? Am I missing something?

Obviously I am missing something. I don`t see what you are getting at.

I have the jacket liner and gloves and use a 10 amp fuse.

Hmmmm, for a particular level of power (Watts), doesn't the amount of current go down when the voltage goes up?

Jacket at 12V is 6.9 amps, that should be 82.8 watts

the Jacket should use: 5.87 amps at 14.1 volts, not 7.6 amps.

Are my calculations wrong here?

I think they got their terminology mixed up, and they were thinking about the wattage going up instead of the amperage, though in their equation it seems as if the wattage is staying the same, which would make the amperage go down, as you thought. However, the chart looks like their gear has a fixed amperage, rather than wattage, so it just doesn't look right to me, either.

With resistant heat it’s all relative. Ohm’s Law doesn’t exactly apply.
